Tirogo – "Float" {Nigeria} [1977] afro psych/blues

tirogo is another great sample of lost african psychedelic music. it was recorded in nigeria in 1977 and originally released on emi, same as the great album blo – chapter one. this nigerian rock-psych band tirogo is similar to bands such as ofege, blo, founders 15, doves, and aktion. great african songs covered with wild guitar solos, spooky organ, great beats and strong vocals. 4 guys on the cover / 6 were actually in the band looking pretty young. it is getting harder and harder to find lost african bands since there is a big rave in the international music scene to hunt for good material. with the massive help of collectors and now again records in the usa, who actually went to nigeria to sign the boys, we are able to present this amazing album to you. it will suit the same music lovers who like amanaz, the witch, question mark and blo… read more.

This reminds me that Edzayawa was posted on the PNF want list. Any luck? Anyone find it or post it?

except 1-2 albums, that wishlist still protects its mystery.. as i remember voodoofunk sent 1 song in his comps, and one more song should be available in other v.a comp. thats all i know about edzayawa.

I do see the record selling in the $400-500 range, but...oh well. Some day it will show up on Rhapsody or Lala...I mean it was an EMI release for godsake. Why would they keep it out of print given the interest in this kind of stuff these days?

Edzayawa is being reissued soon. Overall EDZAYAWA is a good record, but from a prog/psych view it's very overrated. It's more of a deep funk/afro groove record then rock. There is little to no fuzz guitar. It's lots of groovy organ with African rhythms. Very nice lp, but not anything like WITCH, Amanaz or Ofege in the sense it has little to no traits rock fans tend to look for. I have Edzayawa lp somewhere, I will try to find and post it at some point.
