Hi, I am very surprised to find this here. I am German and have been interested in Turkish music for many years. The genre of Düs sokagi sakinleri is called protest music. If you like it, I want to very much recommend Fikret Kizilok - almost everything by him. His maybe best album is "Zaman Zaman". Very nice are his late 60s' recordings, real psych folk. It's all singer-songwriter stuff. You may also look for Bülent Ortacgil who is more into (decent) rock music and Yeni Türkü who sound a whole lot more Turkish, but are still very enjoyable for Western ears.

I forgot something about Yeni Türkü: The quality of their albums differs a lot. Go for "Akdeniz Akdeniz" and give it some spins, you will like it! Deep and light-hearted at the same time. You can buy it cheap as a cassette or CD in many Turkish music shops. And also listen to Livaneli, for example "Gökyüzü Herkesindir"!
